Regional Planning Project

Torres Shire Council advises that it is a signatory to a joint agreement with other stakeholders, viz. Torres Strait Regional Authority, Torres Strait Island Regional Council, Northern Peninsula Area Regional Council and ATSIP, to conduct an integrated planning consultation across the Torres Strait and NPA region. 

Torres Shire residents are invited to comment on the existing Torres Shire Corporate plan, which expires in April 2010, any related matters and a range of specific questions. Any new service delivery issues that are identified in this process will be taken into account. The consultation will also be used by the TSRA to inform its Torres Strait Development Plan for 2009-2013. 

Other existing or past community plans of local organisations are requested to be submitted for Council to review and possibly include relevant issues in the TS Council’s final submission to the regional service delivery process.

All Torres Shire residents are invited to have their say during the Shire community consultation which will be conducted from 13 to 14 October 2008. Any prior written submissions will be welcome on the specific service delivery issues which will be circulated in the near future.
