Public Notice - Scheduled water maintenance works

Torres Shire Council undertakes scheduled maintenance works across the water mains throughout the shire on a regular basis as part of its commitment to maintaining water supply. At the completion of these works, water mains are flushed to remove discolouration.

Major water main maintenance works have been undertaken over the last two days that has resulted in discoloured water reaching water taps, before the lines are fully flushed. Whilst the lines were kept open to ensure that water supply was uninterrupted across the Islands; unfortunately, discoloured water was present in some parts of the Shire as the lines were being flushed.

Council apologises for this temporary inconvenience to the community. Works are continuing to clear discoloured water from the mains.
