Library

The Torres Shire Council Library is open to the entire Torres Shire community and visitors.

Thursday Island Cemetery reflects the history of occupation since the settlement of T.I in the late 1800s. Muslims, Buddhists, Japanese, Pacific Islanders and Torres Strait Islanders rest peacefully within the 3-hectare cemetery situated on T.I's north-east side along Aplin Road.

Sporting Facilities

The Torres Shire Council offers swimming, indoor & outdoor gym, and stadium facilities. Community members and visitors are welcome to pay casual entry fees or memberships are available for more frequent or longer term use.

Works Depot

The Torres Shire Works Depot aims towards further building upon the Torres Shire Region's assets and attractions.

Community Gardens

The Torres Shire Council maintains the Frog Gully (Prog Gali) Community Garden on Thursday Island and the Aquaponics Garden on Horn Island,

Landfill & Waste Transfer Station

All Commercial Waste will be taken directly to the landfill as organised by the Quarry Manager.

The Horn Island Transfer Station is for domestic waste only.
