Public Notice - Draft 2020-2021 Budget Overview for Public Comment

Back

Torres Shire Council’s draft 2020-2021 Annual Budget must be presented to Council for review and adoption by Tuesday, 7th July 2020. Prior to this occurring, Council invites the community to participate in this process by reading the draft Budget document that explains the revenue (income) available to Council this year as against the annual expenditure proposed to deliver community programs, infrastructure and capital works, including roads, water and sewerage services, rubbish collection and waste management, construction and maintenance, airport services, fleet, community programs and administrative costs.

Council has progressively framed its finances over past financial years by working towards being more independent of grant funding.

Your review of the draft budget and any feedback or comments are important to Council. Council is keen to know your opinion on ways you believe that

(a) the budget may be improved to meet community needs and;

(b) whether you believe the budget balances the provision of core services to meet community needs.

Residents may view the budget consultation report on our website, at the Library or at the Council Office on Douglas Street, Thursday Island.
